COMPETITION OF IDEAS FOR DESIGNING A THEME MOSAIC SCULPTURE TO BE PLACED IN AN AREA OF PUBLIC GREENERY WITHIN THE CITY OF RAVENNA

1. ELIGIBILITY
   The competition is restricted to persons under the age of 40 (forty) on 31/07/2005
   School and Art Institute groups may take part as single competitors.
   
   
2. COMPETITION OF IDEAS
   Participants are asked to present a project for a mosaic sculpture having maximum overall dimensions of 2.00 m in height and 2.00 m in width, including the supporting structure.
   The maximum mosaic surface must be not more than 24 sq m.
   The project shall indicate the type of mosaic surface and the materials to be used so as to ensure its duration over the years and inexpensive production.
   The theme is: “CHILDREN'S DREAMS” and requires the designing of an "affective" space to be considered as the seat of wishes, hopes and dreams of children, who must be able to access it easily to deposit letters or graphic material. Maximum freedom of design is allowed (geometric, phytomorphic, zoomorphic shapes, etc.)
   
   
3. REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION
   To be eligible for the competition, entrants must provide the following documentation within the established dates:
   a) entry applications, showing personal details, telephone numbers and e-mail address;
   b) photocopy of a document indicating the age of the competitor;
   c) curriculum;
   d work project on paper.
   f) descriptive sheet of the work containing title, dimensions, description of material used and production procedures, with general estimate of total production costs.
   Failure to present even one of these documents will make the applicant ineligible for the competition, as will the presentation of projects not in compliance with the aforementioned technical requirements.
   
   
4. TERMS
   Documentation must reach the Competition secretariat by 12 noon of 31/07/2005.

   Documentation cannot be returned.
   
   
5. SELECTION OF ENTRY APPLICATIONS
   The entry applications will be examined and selected by a special commission consisting of experts in the sector by the end of October 2005.
   After this date, the participants will receive a written notice regarding the results of the selection which envisages the choice of just one project. All the presented projects will be exhibited in two separate phases: at the ESP shopping centre and in a showroom in the city. A catalogue of the projects will be published and made available at the presentation of the completed work. All copyrights associated with the winning project will be transferred to the RavennArte cultural Association.
   
   
6. PROJECT AWARD
   The winner of the competition will receive a prize of Euro 3,500.00
   A mention of honour will be made for an Art Institute student and/or class.
   The prizes will be awarded during the prize-giving ceremony by the end of October 2005
   
   
7. PRODUCING THE WORK
   The work will be made in Ravenna by the students of an art school selected by a special commission and will be installed in June 2006, in a green area identified by the City Council.
   
   
8. WITHDRAWAL OF PROJECTS
   The withdrawal of rejected projects must be made by the participants at their own expense within 60 days from the closing of the exhibition. In case of failure to withdraw within such term, the projects shall automatically become the property of the RavennArte Cultural Association.
